How tutor applicants move into the tutor pool

We welcome UK-based and international tutors, but an application is not the same as immediate assignment. Tutors are reviewed for subject fit, exam-board familiarity, teaching clarity, marking ability and availability.

Application submitted

The tutor shares location, subjects, exam boards, teaching experience, language, availability, expected rate and optional supporting material.

Profile screening

We check whether the tutor fits the subject needs, exam-board requirements, lesson availability and service standards.

Interview or sample task

Suitable applicants may be asked for a short interview, trial explanation or marking sample.

Approved or backup pool

Approved tutors are recorded by subject, availability, teaching strengths and suitable student type before matching.

What makes a tutor easier to match

A tutor can be excellent academically but still hard to match if availability, communication or pricing is unclear.

  • Specific IGCSE subject and exam-board experience.
  • Clear online explanation style and reliable lesson setup.
  • Ability to provide concise parent-friendly feedback.
  • Comfort using mark schemes for mock or paper review.
  • Availability that matches common family timezones.
  • Rate expectations that fit the confirmed service format.

Apply to join the tutor pool

Submit your subjects, exam-board experience, availability and any teaching profile or marking sample.

Tutor pool quality

Tutor applicants are reviewed before they are suitable for student work

Families and tutor applicants should understand that joining the tutor pool is not the same as being assigned immediately. Student demand, evidence quality and service fit matter.

Profile review

Subject experience, exam-board familiarity, teaching role, availability and communication quality are considered before next steps.

Trial evidence

A short interview, explanation sample or marking sample may be requested when the subject and service role need more evidence.

Capacity check

Approved tutors still need current availability, price fit and a suitable student request before assignment.

Parent concern How it is checked Suggested next step
Are all applicants used? Only suitable applicants are moved toward approved or backup pools. Families should rely on confirmed match, not a raw applicant list.
How is teaching quality checked? Subject explanation, exam familiarity and sample feedback can be reviewed. Read tutor standards before booking.
Can tutors start immediately? Demand, schedule, service price and suitability are checked first. Confirm availability before payment.
Must be clear before payment

Tutor onboarding supports quality control, but it does not imply every tutor is available for every student or that every applicant becomes an active tutor.
